Shopify automation and back-office fixes
Your storefront is dialed in. Your back office is duct tape: someone tags orders by hand, copies stock counts between systems, and checks three dashboards every morning. I find the manual steps that cost you the most time and make them run on their own.
What I usually automate
- Order tagging and routing. Tags that drive fulfillment stages, segments and follow-ups, applied automatically. Where the four hours a week go.
- Fulfillment steps. Batching, pick lists, packing checks and status updates, often with Pickadoodl plus a little glue.
- Inventory syncs. Bin locations to ShipStation, stock between locations, and one-of-a-kind items that must never sell twice. How to stop overselling unique items.
- Alerts that matter. Low stock, stalled orders and failed syncs, sent to email or Slack instead of discovered by a customer.
- Recurring reports. The numbers you assemble by hand every week, built once and delivered automatically.
How it works
- Map it. We walk through a normal day and list every manual, repeated step.
- Rank it. Each one gets a rough cost in time and errors, and an effort to fix. Biggest wins first.
- Build the simplest thing that works. Shopify Flow when it's enough, an existing app when one fits, custom code only when neither does.
- Hand it over. Documented, monitored, and with someone to call if it ever breaks.
Questions
Do I need Shopify Plus for automation?
No. Shopify Flow is available on most plans, and a lot of useful automation runs through apps or small custom scripts on any plan.
Can't I just use Shopify Flow?
Often, yes, and I'll tell you when Flow is enough. It's less suited to multi-step logic, calls to outside systems, and jobs that need to retry reliably. That's where a small custom piece helps. See when Flow is the right answer.
What happens when Shopify changes something?
Anything I build is documented and monitored, and keeping it running can be part of a retainer, so an API change doesn't become your emergency.
Let's fix what's slowing you down.
